Here Today
We pass each other without noticing each other.
We look at each other without seeing each other.
Here Today was a site specific installation and performance at Arts Letters and Numbers in Averill Park, NY. Guests are invited to don masks, pick up a small scroll, and wander throughout the space and gaze into each other's eyes as Earl read a piece of poetry on a long scroll atop a ladder. Once Earl finished the scroll he invited everyone to remove their masks and open their own scrolls and truly see one another as they walk through the space. The scrolls contain prompts of how to see one another, ranging from:
As you look into their eyes, imagine that you are both five years old
to
Grab your partners hands and transfer your love and energy to them
to
What color is this person's energy?
Participants sauntered through the space using these prompts to start to truly connect with one another. Spending a few moments to a few minutes with each person as they passed and sharing words of love and kindness.
